Disney+’s highly anticipated new Marvel series Agatha All Along failed to meet expectations in terms of viewership numbers. Centered around the adventures of Agatha Harkness, played by Kathryn Hahn, the series was eagerly awaited following her popularity in WandaVision. Unfortunately, the viewership figures that came in after the show’s release fell short of the expectations of both Marvel fans and critics.
Agatha All Along Falls Short in Viewership
The first episode of Agatha All Along reached 9.3 million views on Disney+ in its first seven days. As a spin-off of the Marvel mini-series WandaVision, the show debuted on September 18. It is known that Disney defines the total view time as the total watch time divided by the runtime. Therefore, when the view count is multiplied by the duration, the episode was watched for approximately 6.5 million hours in total.
The premiere of Agatha All Along performed even worse than Percy Jackson & the Olympians, which launched in December 2023 with 13.3 million views in six days, and The Acolyte, a Star Wars series that reached 11.1 million views in five days in June 2024.
Since Disney does not provide additional statistics for standard time frames, it is difficult to make exact comparisons. However, Agatha All Along also lagged behind another Star Wars series, Ahsoka, which premiered in August 2023 and reached a higher total in a shorter timeframe, reportedly amassing 14 million views in five days.
Although the series led by Kathryn Hahn currently has underwhelming viewership, it still offers hope to some Marvel fans. The star-studded cast includes Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, Maria Dizzia, Paul Adelstein, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Okwui Okpokwasili, Debra Jo Rupp, Patti LuPone, and Aubrey Plaza.
Marvel Studios’ production is overseen by executive producers Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Mary Livanos, and Jac Schaeffer, with Trevor Waterson serving as co-producer.
